The Sheehan Disability Scale is a brief, 5-item self-report inventory that assesses functional impairment in work/school, social life, and family life.

Scores Produced

  • Total (0-30)
  • Work/School (0-10)
  • Social Life (0-10)
  • Family Life/Home Responsibilities (0-10)

Interpretation

Total: there is no recommended cutoff score, but this score can be used to monitor change over time with treatment

Individual scores of 5 or more on items 1-3 are associated with significant functional impairment
