Telehealth FAQ

What is Valant Telehealth?

Valant Telehealth is a new HIPAA compliant video conferencing solution for a provider to video conference with a patient through Valant. There is no need to download any additional software. Providers will start the session directly from the scheduler and patients from their Patent Portal account. Valant Telehealth is only available in Valant IO. Below you can watch a demonstration of how Valant Telehealth works.

What browsers are supported?

For Providers, they will need to use a browser supported by Valant IO (Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox). Patients will be able to use, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome. When possible make sure you are using the most updated version of an internet browser. Using older versions can cause some issues with Telehealth. Internet Explorer is not a supported browser for Telehealth. Patients will receive a message telling them so if they try to join a session in Internet Explorer.

How will I notify my patients that video conferencing/telehealth is now available?

  1. If you have Valant’s Patient Portal (which is required to use Telehealth), you may use the Secure Messaging functionality to communicate with each patient.
  2. Alternatively, you may utilize a platform such as Mailchimp, SendPulse, Sendinblue, among others to mass communicate with your patients. Practices can get a list of patient emails by running a Facesheet report from the CSV drop-down in System Reports. This report exports all patient demographic information including email, into a comma-separated-value (CSV) spreadsheet that can be opened in Microsoft Excel.

Will group video conferencing be supported?

We built our Telehealth solution with extreme urgency to respond to the evolving needs of our customers amidst this pandemic. In this effort, we are releasing a V1 version and are excited to be iterating on this. Currently, only Telehealth including 1 patient and 1 provider is supported. The Integrated Teleheath is a way to video conference with patients. Some features that are not included in this version are the options to screenshare, chat, mouse countrol, and transfer of electronic files. Please send us your feedback, requesting this functionality, at This information will be given to our Product Team so that they can incorporate it into their planning for future enhancements.
