PPS: Internet Explorer Configuration

This article applies to the Private Practice Suite

The following configuration is needed for each computer from which the Valant Suite EHR is accessed.

In the menu bar, select Tools | Internet Options
Security Settings
  1. Click Security | Trusted sites | Sites

  1. In the "Add this website to the zone" box type "https://*.valantmed.com" and click Add
  2. Repeat the process with "https://*.drfirst.com" and "https://*.valant.com"
  3. Click Close to return to the Security tab

  1. Click the Custom Level button
  2. In the new window, scroll down to "Downloads". Under "File download" select "Enable"

  1. For Internet Explorer 8 or older only, scroll down to "Automatic Prompting for File Downloads", set the option to "Enable"
  2. Scroll down to the ‘Miscellaneous’ section. Under "Display mixed content", set the option to "Enable"
  3. Close the window by clicking OK and confirm the choice by clicking Yes
Privacy Settings
  1. On the Privacy tab, click Settings

  1. A new window will appear. In the "Address of website to allow" box type "valantmed.com" and click Allow
  2. Repeat the process for the addresses "drfirst.com" and "valant.com"
  3. Click OK to close the window
  4. Back in the Privacy tab, click Sites
  5. In the "Address of website" box type "valantmed.com" and click Allow
  6. Repeat the process for "valant.com" and "drfirst.com"
  7. Click OK to close the window
Advanced
  1. Navigate to the "Advanced" tab

  1. Scroll down to the "Security" section
  2. Make sure the "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" checkbox is NOT checked
  3. Click OK to close the "Internet Options" window
Restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.

Enable Microsoft Silverlight Add-on

If Silverlight is already downloaded onto your computer it is important to make sure that it is enabled in Internet Explorer. This can be completed by doing the following steps:
  1. In the menu bar, select Tools | Manage add-ons

  1. In the "Manage Add-ons" pop-up window ensure that the Microsoft Silverlight Add-on is enabled. If it is disabled, it will need to be enabled to use Valant in Internet Explorer.
